Dina Migachyov - Author
Mrs. Migachyov was an electrical engineer until the birth of her daughter; after becoming a mother, she attended the Herzen Pedagogical Institute in St.Petersburg, Russia, got her Master's Degree in education, and began her teaching career in the Russian school system. She taught high school math for 12 years. The opportunity to emigrate to America put an end to her Russian teaching career; shortly after emigrating, however, she found a job teaching math at a small private elementary school in St.Paul, MN. She completely recreated the way math was taught at the school, and transformed a mediocre math program into an extraordinary one. Only 3 years after she came to the school, the school's math team took 1st place in the state; her 6th grade students were so far ahead that they went to 9th grade math after graduating from 6th grade. She was awarded the Presidential Scholars Teaching Recognition Award in 2003 for her excellence in teaching. She was also listed in Who is Who Among American Teachers twice.
After retiring from teaching, Mrs.Migachyov turned to writing math textbooks as a way to pass on her knowledge. She is now the author of 4 textbooks - Mathematics for Little Ones, Fractions and More, Equations are Easy, and Equations in Geometry. She also maintains a thriving tutoring practice.
