Our Educational Philosophy
Math Education Should Be Sequential
We believe that it is important to learn math concepts in the right order.
Students must learn addition before multiplication, fractions before decimals,
long division before polynomial division, and so on up the math hierarchy.
Haphazard, out-of-order instruction leads to unnecessary confusion and wastes
the student's time.
Math Is About Comprehension, not Rote Memorization
Knowing why a technique works is as important as learning how it
works and when to apply it. Focusing exclusively on the "how"
while neglecting the "why" does not provide the necessary
foundation for a good math education.
Math Can Be Made Accessible to Everyone
Anyone, no matter what their ability level, can learn basic arithmetic; homeschoolers, because of their one-on-one approach to education and their ability to pick their own program, typically do better than schoolchildren. We want to make a well-designed math program accessible to everyone.
